Got inspired today while looking through Isric's Elfwood gallery -> 7-8 straight hours of painting (yes, I'm slow) in Photoshop. I got to the phase when my basic shapes are down with highlights and would like to hear some crits before I start to render the details.
Todo: tweak contrast, fix some asymmetrical stuff(?), make the background more interesting, *tweak tweak nudge nudge*
Rip it apart and I'll do my best to fix things.

I must say that the first word that came into my mind as I looked at this pic was 'Ooh!' VERY nice work! You might try intensifying the contrast a bit, maybe adding a little yellow to the highlights, but other than that, its excellent. Keep it up! |

hey kig, thats great!
The only thing I would consider that most drow armor is made of adamantite which should be looking more black maybe with green reflections..
Just in case you wonder.. YES, I have nothing better to do than to figure out what drow wear
great picture |

well though the drawing is ok, how much have you researched the drow culture? I doubt any drow would wear anything that bulky because it would probably make a lot of noise and it is probably heavy. The armor must deffinetly be black because the underdark is really unforgiving and someone wearing that would be like a magnet to every being in the mood to eat some drow (the drow are not the rulers of the underdark). Anyway it is ok.
But this is just my oppinion. |

Ah, neo-mythological discussions. 'Drow lord' was just the first thing that popped into my mind, so for the sake of keeping the purists happy, let's say he's not a drow but a fallen Numenorian or a Melnibonean or something? And yes, my original intention was to make the armor black, but unfortunately my lousy craftsmanship turned it green instead. I think I'll make a couple more of these pics just to check out some different variations (and to have fun ) |

To Dives: I think the Drows worst enemy in the underdark is the drow.... |

Thomas: Do not debate with the HC fantasy master im sure i can talk about any race for atleast 2 hours. For example worse than the drow are the ilithids that keep drows as slaves. Other enemies are numerous but not too often seen for example the underdark animals are quit vicious and dangerous. And you are probably looking at this from the point of Drizzt which we all know and love but he is the best fighter in Menzoberanzan if not in all the drow nation. This mean that not nearly everyone is eaven half as good as he. Remember that he has taken 3-4 drow warriors at a time without too much effort. |

uuh to correct my first post. Drow are some kind of rulers of the underdark but only because they are pretty numerous compared to the other races which are more powerful. |

Drizzt Na'Shaezbarren (aka, Do'Urden) kicks *cough* butt! ^_^
We're in a drow campaign, but my char wasn't alwyas drow... she's a follower of Shavaresh that pissed Lolth off. (The followers of Shavaresh do little but hunt evil drow.) Lolth decided the best way to punish her is to turn her into a drow. She has been that way for about 27 years (and under a geas that she couldn't inflict harm on herself or stick herself in a suicidal position.)
I'm working on a pic of her now. ^_^ I"ll post it soon. |

Latest work-in-progress shot. I will probably add a bit more detail, engravings, those silvery bands and stuff like that before i proclaim this piece final. Oh well, comments welcome.
Oh, got Baldur's Gate 2 a few days ago and cropped&resized this to work as a portrait in the game. He's Lodothirrac, a lawful evil elf fighter who uses a long sword and a long bow. Yah. Get the portrait zipped
