Hey yall, i'ts me again!.
asking questions all the time, sorry bout that!

Err, I justwanna know the difference between the airbrush tool and the paintbrush tool usability-wise, feature-wise, advantage-wise, etc.

Where does the Airbrush come in and where does the paintbrush come in for most of your art?

So far, with my new graphire, i use the paintbrush to block out colours. like the rest of u.. and just ..use the paintbrush to rough shade.. keep on blockin' out stuff.

Personally, I think it all boils down to personal taste. Both tools are equally matched up. But each may have an advantage over the other. Airbrush is used a bit more for shading, but that can also be done with the paintbrush using opacity settings. It's just a matter of taste. I'd say that the best way to find out is familiarize yourself with them.

Functionality-wise, the paintbrush and airbrush have one major difference. If you set your opacity to 10% on the paintbrush and scribble around in an area, then 10% is the absolute maximum opacity your color is going to be put down at on that stroke. If you use 10% on an airbrush, the color will just keep building up and up to 100%.

Make sense?

I personally use the paintbrush with hard edges, like you did in your picture, for just about everything. If I ever use the airbrush it's with soft edges, and that's to draw highlights and stuff. But I still use the paintbrush 95% of the time.

There is also another diff. If you hold down (without any movement) the brush tool it will create just a single spot with 10% opacity. If you will hold down the airbrush tool it will spray the color until it becomes 100% and even after it will continue to spray the color until the edges of the brush's shape become also 100%

kewl, thanks for the reply
u see. how does this apply to peopel with pressure sensitive tablets?

oh wait. evenwith opacity on. the paintbrush will go to whatever opacity u set for it.. tops.

but the airbrush is.. .luks smoother

it luks less smooth witht he paintbrush .. for shading. The Airbrush seems to give more control in certain cases.

It just looks like it's more smooth using the tablet. and increasing the pressure to create a low -> high opacity stroke
as oppose to using increasing pressure with opacity checked on for the paintbrush tool.

btw, I've noticed that photoshop mixes colours just like in real painting.

If you had blue and mixed yellow, it would turn green..

i havne't taken any specific courses on art. just wondering the idea of how to achieve a certain Saturation, or Intensity

I remember it had to do with mixing in the complementary colour.. and for intensity , mixing black or white.... rite?
