Hello, I am making a 3d logo in a 3d program which can export several formats, but I want my 3d file to become a 2d 'vector' file, like AI or EPS.
The only programs I know are vecta3d and swift3d, but they are to expensive for this one-time 3d logo.

does anyone know a small, freeware, shareware program which can read 3d files and put them in 2d.

I tried adobe dimension, but you can't import 3d objects from outside..

please help

if you have flash do this:

render the logo in image sequnces (BMP).
import the first image..and it will ask you to import the rest in the sequence..say yes.
Then run Trace Birmap fom Flash.

you wont get a perfect vector look..but the result can be cool. Fiddel around with the tracing settings.

Swift3d is the best solution for more then
OK quality output (esp. compared to vecta3d)
but you can allways try this :

* MM Freehand has (lame) .dxf import support.
Works for simple stuff, experiment and
be ready to do some hardcore manual
editing.

* Some cheap and pretty ok 3d tools like
Amapi, FormZ etc. have built in .ai export.
You can export the viewport and import the
(large amount) of 2d vector data in any
good editing program like freehand or
illustrator. A lot of manual editing is
needed for good quality results.

* Simply TRACE your bitmap to vectors.
Sometimes this gives you a good basis for
further 2d vector editing. It's fast and
cheap hehe.. (built in e.g flash)

* You can try the 'illustrate vector export'
plugin for 3dsmax 2 or 3. There's a public
preview version on www.davidgould.com.

C'est tout. Good luck, hope it all works out!

Well, if have alot of time you can render the logo to an image .gif, .bpm or something.
Then ompen the pic/pics in Adobe Streamline and export as vector.

This isn't a good ide, but it works...
