The process I use now is ; scan in the pencils and then color on a separate layer which is set to multiply. The problem is that the pencils turn to a gross black instead of staying their normal warm tone .

I was wondering if there is any other way that I could color my scanned pencils without them looking nasty and dark

here is what im talking about

Thanks alot for your help

Try placing your pencil sketch (with its white background) ABOVE the colouring layer, and placing a white layer below all this. Then play with the layer modes for the pencil layer. I've just checked and Darken might be the right one... keep looking if it's not the one, though...

Copy the Multiply layer and set it to "overlay".

set brush to color mode ? that way you'll only color the pixels that are already there, but the white will remain.

Bah, I was never particularly partial to Rapidographs. They clog up. They're good, but not the only pen you'll ever need.
