Did you get one, do you like it? What games did you get, are they fun? Do you think it was worth the $$$? Discuss.

They are realeasing the PS2 HDD before christmass. That baby hooks up into the back and has a built in 2 gigs and ethernet chip. It's gunna be hot shit!

Too bad they had to make it seperate from the playstation itself. MORE DAMN MONEY!!!!

I played a PS2 a few months ago when I visited Krome Studios in Brisbane, and they are a very kewl machine. Though, with the $700 Aussie price tag and the switch of Munch's Oddysee to XBox, my initiative to get one has slumped. MGS 2 and Armoured Core 2 are still keeping my spirits high, though the MGS license has been taken up by the XBox aswell... Basically, there's gotta be some more fun silly willy games for me to yank out cash for the PS2. I already own a PSX and a DVD player, plus my trusty PC, so I'm no longer in any rush. [/rant]

I went to best buy today... on the way back from school... seems like they have no PS2 show unit, so I got bored and went home

no way am I spending money on PS2. I heard the graphix weren't any better then dreamcast and no modem support on PS2. Who cares about the DVD player, get a dreamcast and a seperate dvd player and you will still save money. I personally will wait till dolphin or xbox, those will actually will live up to the hype.

Seriously, in my opinion, Sega and Konami make the best games. I'll buy whatever system I can get the most of their stuff on. (Read: I'm buying a Dreamcast tomorrow, seriously.)

I didn't pre-order one so it is probably going to be next year before I get one.

Those little cards size of credit cards were the games, you just pop them into the console like an atm and they weren't THAT bad for the time...almost better then super nintendo

Turbo Graphix 16 is one of the few consoles I haven't played much. I played bonk's adventure and remember liking it but that's about it.

hmm... next time I have money. ebay!

Woohoo! I searched the classifieds and got one for $400. Came with a DVD remote and a memory card too. So all he made off of me was about $20. Classifieds are better then the auctions cause you can usually talk them down in price or the price is set so no bidding.

I had the same question go through my mind, the night before the release of the PS2...Should I get it or save for a different system?

The stupidest thing one could do with that question is add up the costs my family has spent on games and systems from Gameboy to N64 - welp, I felt an urge to find out, prolly to post the total here in some subconscious way :P

No joke, a whopping 4897.00 DOLLARS US!!!

(I do have a brother if that counts for anything). Anyway, I prefer Nintendo companies more than Sega ones in the long run and am therefor sweating it out till The Gamecube comes out, or the X-box if their's really shows better potential.

heh....I think it's worth tho eh?!

hey optic, you play computer games? I have 30 PC game boxes in my room, that's at 40 bucks a pop on avrage (lately I buy old games at less than $20 each) that's just the ones I kept the boxes to... plus the computers I've bought, + the N-64 with all it's games (ugh they're expensive)
and magazines... oh wait, heh comes out to 4800 ... just for me, (didn't add up computers I didn't buy)

in comparison, I barely listen to music, I own 20 CDs, and about 5 movies...

i did get the jap machine when it was relased

I follow square too, all the games i own are square...unfortuently final fantasy 9 is CRAP!

In relation to the last console war, I think ps2 is will be like n64, good promise but too hard to program for. and the dreamcast is like the first playstation, it might not have the eye candy but it has the games. Orrrrr maybe not.

Maybe it's point of all the Russian people, but it's also mine. Why pay for console if you already have a great thing called PC? Warez is free, besides all the fun is in ONLINE gaming, not in POS SP puzzle games.

i camped out from 10pm to 8am at walmart with 2 friends and we bought 3 ps2's... we just sold the 2nd one on ebay for 560USD (the first one for 560USD as well) so that made the 3rd ps2 100% free with a 2nd controller and memory card and tekken tag... tekken tag is the only game i like so far... once bouncer from square comes that will be cool... not many good ps2 games now though of course you have every psx game to play on it as well... i wouldnt pay 500USD for ps2 though :P

piece of crap console compared to the Nintendo Game Cube. get that and the new Zelda game when it comes out and you'll never need to buy another system or game until the next Nintendo system comes out.

...no. i don't have one. yes, i will be getting one. hell, it plays dvds AND playstation games AND has some new games i'm really looking forward to, what's there to complain about? except that there aren't any around for me to buy!

Got a playstation 2 when it first came out

managed to grab a second one a few weeks ago and I'm trying to sell that one right now. It's a good system, it's powerful but not what it could be. I'm waiting to see what comes out in a year after most of the game companies are used to the development kits. That was one reason why not all the ps2 games were awesome (aside from a few: SSX, T^3).

Dreamcast is a good system, but after a year I can't say that there have been any games that came out that would make me jet to my nearest game store and pick up a copy.

I have a Dreamcast but I played PS2 in the Store. Personaly I think the Graphics are better on the Dreamcast because playstations anti-aliasing sucks as much as the first one did. I loved the PSX but the graphics were hard to look at so I bought it on Dreamcast and never looked back.

For now I like Dreamcast but I'm looking forward to see what the X-box has to offer as far as games licencing. If my therory is correct Bill Gates will try to corner the market on the best titles.
