This is the topic of my weekly drawing for my art class...

I want to do something different to everyone else... Im sure they will all the the generic knocked out boxer or something like that...

Any Ideas... Down and out.. hmm

Also everyone in my class is always copying other peoples work and like when I draw a pic from scratch its harder to compete with someone who has just copied out a great pic from a comic or something??

Its just annoying.. Well maby I might do this for a change and draw an awesome pic... I will scan it in when im done if you want...

Um yea does anyone have any reference material aswell... I really want to do a good job with this rendered pencil sketch...

Thanks I know everyone will be very helpful..

Espeacially Francis and fred.. Spooge.. I really do like their compisition and ideas they exspress in their images..

Thanks

HUgh

I have an idea, but it may be a little of... I think you should draw a picture of a little boy holding up his dog that just got hit by a car. And the boy is crying and screaming. Just an idea, and is please share the image with us when it's done. I'm interestred in what you choose.

You could draw a bum and his wine bottle that has passed out from too much drinking and lying in the gutter.

How about a flamboyant gay guy wearing a goose-down jacket? >B)

Get it? Down... and out? Nevermind...

Sometimes you have to let go of your ego if you want to realy learn. If you are making mistakes and seeing those mistakes, that's good because you are developing an eye for whats right and wrong in your images.
In art school,it's all ego. I know plenty of people who's egos are bigger than thier talent. I myself have fallen into this catagory but quickly learned that's the wrong way to go about things.
make your mistakes, learn from your classmates mistakes.
There is nothing wrong with using reference, it's a GREAT way to learn, never let anyone tell you different. But, (there's that but again) don't abuse reference, your drawing ability will suffer if you don't draw from life. I have learned more by drawing from life than I ever did using reference.
Ok..enough preaching..about your down and out thing.
You seem down and out when it's time for critique because everyone else is using reference and your not..there's an idea. Sometimes personal issues work great...not all the time tho..
I like the idea of the kid and dog..hehehe, Like rockwell said "everyone's a sucker for a sad dog, or one with a bandage on it's paw"
the bum idea is good too, i can see him in a dark alley with no shoes and torn clothes, his beard is all matted to his face and his eyes are sunken into his head from no sleep and too much booz. hmmm that sounds like me..gotta go get a hair cut.
good luck!

If they're copying all the time, then they suck, and you should tell them so.

HE was very rough and he had a huge bushy beard... I can barely remember much... but basicaly I just want a couple of photos of eaiher old and or homless people..
