This is essentially my second real head painting. It was done for a project, believe it or not. There was originally some rough line work, but I removed it at the end and tweaked things around a little. But the nose remains hopelessly screwed and no time to fix it.
I guess this took about an hour-ish. Pretty sad. But better than the last one.

Not bad. Pretty cool pic. The nose should be pretty easy to fix.. just round off the holes. Reminds me of Resident Evil. |

Thanks. About the nose. Like I said, there was a pretty good line drawing on top. It defined allot of the features. At the end, I hid the layer in PS and the image looked ok without, so I ditched the drawing. As a result, there are lots of places where the shapes are f'd. I'm not going to fix it, simply because there's no point. Thanks, though. If you want to touch it up, that's fine by me. |

Alias, howdy, got some horror project you guys are pitching eh?
I like the image, the guy has a really cool rigamortise feel to him.
The nose is a bit strange. It looks like you tried a zombie type nose, removing the cartiledge, but then put it all back there, but left the cartiledge nostrils. Just a bit strange, and contrasty to the rest of his face which is very soft in form, not a lot of angularity. But then again, you could be going for that contrast...
I like the soft feel on the interior of the wound. Very convincing...Did you guys get the job? |

Fred, thanks. Aside from a hundred tiny head studies, this is my second real "painting" of a head. I'm pleased to simply be getting better. Sargent said that painting should be as natural as using a pencil. Christ! This stuff is sooo mechanical for me still.
These horror images are for to get a project and partly practice for Mozeman and me. I could do just about anything horror-related, so I used the opportunity to take a go at a head.
The nose is quite messed up, but I don't have time to fix it up; I'd rather just start over with a new one. It looked ok until the outlines were removed. There were other areas that were off, but I fixed them well enough.
Thanks for responding. I usually get crickets when I post. |

Nice! I like the colours and shadows.
I think his ear looks a bit weird.

Rinaldo, thanks. Again, I'm glad that at least I'm moving forward. If I ever get painting skills, then I'll put together a progression from "army head" to "hole in head" and so on. Glad I don't have to make a living by painting.
X-Plague, yeah. This is not at all my sort of thing. I tend towards mainstream content, but the client wanted to see some gore, so... Mozeman's and my gore is pretty cliche, because we come from the opposite background content-wise.
Micke, thanks. I agree, many of the features are screwed. His ear remains much the way it was blocked in. Thanks for responding though. I love your work; you have an incredible natural talent. May have to hire you and Joachim to do a job one day |
