Okee, photoshop question here... Obviously, if you have layers in your image, Photoshop will only let you save in PSD format. If you want to save it as anything else, you have to either flatten all the layers, or do "Save a Copy", which makes you go through a whole bunch of menus just to get the file into the format you want. Not very convenient for making textures at all.

Has anyone found a better way to do this? I don't suppose there's another menu option I'm missing to expediate the process... but can you like hack a config file so that "save a copy" defaults so something other than .psd format? Or so that it doesn't add the word "copy" to the file name? Or ask you what bit depth you want EVERY SINGLE FREAKING TIME?

Any help here would be appreciated.

Just use MSPaint. You won't have to worry about any of that.

Well, that's what I've been doing lately. But it doesn't have any filters. :(

When I'm doing skin work and want to quickly save out a flattened TGA version I make good use of Actions.

Just bring up the Action menu, start a new action (set a function key if you like, I use F2), then hit ctrl+alt+s (save as copy), then select TGA or whatever, I leave the default name but you can specify a name, and then stop the recording.

Now every time you press F2 it automatically saves out a flattened TGA.

Actions are endlessly useful.

Sumaleth.
