Hi, I made this kind of pic a few weeks ago for a demo that Issue is making for Assembly 2k. It may be a bit cartoony, anatomy must be lacking some things etc, but I like this anyway. What do you think? Critics pleease!

Some people outside Finland have said that this site is awfully slow. I dont know what is bugging the server, but i hope it works.

I think i havent introduced myself yet.
My name is Jukka Rajaniemi, I live in Helsinki, Finland.. born in '82.. 17 years old(not for long though), I'm in highschool at the moment, planning to go to an artschool after I graduate. I started making art with a computer since '96 or something and I've been drawing actually all my life. But just recently I have started to figure out the right techniques and I've tried to practise a lot etc. Yup, that's pretty much it.

Oh and BIG thanks to spooge, fred and others who write so much about making art in this forum!! It has been a great help!

Awesome pic. Only suggestions I have are:

1) Add some texture to the bottom skull. Maybe some dirt, scratches or something like that.

2) Maybe some blood stains in the dirt, just for atmosphere and effect.

Even if you don't change it at all, it still looks great.

Actually, I think the flag could use some texture, too. Some dirt and/or rips would look great.

tietysti se, ett piirt asioita amerikkalaisista noinkin vahvalla tavalla on sinns jo hyvin huolestuttavaa...

Hi, welcome on board!

some crit:

The most impotant thing in my opinion: if this is a political picture.. what does it say?
There is no clear message in this picture in my opinion.

maybe you can shed some light on this.

Cya

Well, doesn't the flag say anything?
Hm, I know this is a little bad picture, sorry. It doesn't clearly slam the message to your face...

USA was created while killing the original people, the indians, that's where the arrows come from. Hm. I admit it might be a little confusing. That same thing is happening elsewhere in the world as well. People dont give a damn about the native people, and the arrows(guns) are one solution for it, not maybe the best though.

As a weak excuse I could say that the guys from the demogroup Issue told me to make a 'horror-pic' with for example skeletons 'n stuff. Well, I just mixed the skeleton theme with a flag and some arrows. So this piece of crap is just a picture for a demo.

I'll try to make a clearer message next time

Umm Superbug.. where do you get off saying the USA are full of themselves from this post?

As far as the pic.. its a neat idea. I think they are correct about the flag though. The stars are too small or the stripes are too big, and its a little clean. Is it supposed to be a section torn from the flag or is a burned flag? Throw some detail on the edges to add to it. Also, I think a broken tomahawk would look good in the background.

gseegert:

i just thought the political message would be more powerful than 'america was built on killing american natives' because everybody knows already. Just thought it would be something different I did not understand.

but no offense gven however, just my opinion. The rendering is cool and I like the picture.

Chapel, yeah, i notice NOW that the flag doesn't look like it should be. The stars should be bigger.. Weak Excuse #2 is that i made them quite fast, 5-10 mins.

A broken tomahawk, well that's a nice idea. Or just more arrows Anyway, I don't have enough time to do this pic anymore. It's going to be released this weekend in a demo (not commercial) and I'm busy all the time. So, I'll try to think about dirt and effective details next time. :P

It's funny how a week or two after u have made a pic, you just realize that "ddaaammn, this is fucked up."
