Ive recently quit my job, and decided to focus my time exclusivly on my art, since its my reason for being, and I happen to suck at it currently.
I live with my Girlfriend, who is being wonderful enough to be understanding and take care of me basically, while I fulfill my lifes dream. So...Ive got to make it count.
I can only afford to go community right now, and then maybe move into UNLV(I live in Las Vegas), but what classess would you guys recommend to start with? I think figure drawing is an obvious one for me, since Ive got problems with proportion, and perspective and foreshortening on my characters...heck, on EVERYTHING.
Ive spent far too much time trying to develop a cool style, than trying to develop good technical skills.
Fred, Spooge, micke, joachim, GUYS! What did you do? Where did you go?
Anybody know any decent schools in Nevada?

If they offer it, take basic design courses. Not graphic design, just basic design. It will help you out by building a strong foundation in composition, basic painting will help also. Figure drawing is good of course, but you may want to take some basic drawing courses as well. Every little bit will help.
You may also want to start thinking about what it is you want to do with your art and gear your education toward that. Alot of people just float around and never decide on anything and end up doing nothing with their talents.
Most schools have pre-requisites for classes, so be sure to check that out before you sign up for classes and find out your in over your head.
Good luck! |

Truckee Meadows Community College up in Reno actually has a pretty good fine art program. Only costs a few hundred bucks a semester, and you get access to the same instructors that teach at the University.

Congratulations Scooby!
That's one of the things I respect the most - people being courageous and dare to follow what they feel they have to do. There are so many people that have the desire, but never dare to leave the security of their 'normal' job.
I've got the biggest respect for you dude - good luck and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for!!!!
