Epson scanners are my personal favorite. Very fast scans and good quality.

i got a umax 3200s. it's not a super high-end scanner, but it works great, has an 8.5" x 11" scanning area, and goes up to 9600 dpi. plus it was really cheap! only about $150 canadian.

i had a Epson GT 6500 '93 modell.

that scanner was magic. everything was scan-
ned with greatest accouracy (3 pass, A4,
flatbed). i did cost over 1000 $ back in 93.

it was the best scanner ive seen. now, seven
years later i couldnt think of a better. but,
unfortunaly, this scanner couldnt connect
with a board later then AMIBOIS. so i sold it
with my old pent 150 this year (i only kept
that old PC for that scanner)

in the business i use a HP Scanjet 6200C. but
i do not like it, too much plastical feel
(also in the pictures afterwards )

I currently use a Microtek Scanmaker 3600 with transparencies. Seems decent to me but I'm not an expert when it comes to scanners.

I got a deal on a Scanmaker X6 EL. it does some pretty nice stuff and It came with a transparency adapter and it's SCSI so it's fairly fast. I think it won a bunch of best buy awards in a bunch of computer magazines. I used to use a Jade2 at school but If you asked me to tell the difference between the scans from this one and that one I'd be stuck.
