I really admire Mr. Eng's work especially ones that contain a metallic and or polished material like the shirt in the Sin picture. I was just wondering what techniques were used to create that look?

well, my opinion:
it's pretty important to understand sense of depth and 3d-ish forms.
then you gotta learn shading, shines, highlights, shadows, reflections etc
then you gotta figure out how to first do the proper shape, then shading to it, then the shines and whatnot
i personally prefer the burn/dodge tool over everything.
then the texture part
i've given up all fancy first-do-texture-then-lay-it-on-top-of-the-actual-form-then-bend-and-twist-as-needed, i just draw it with a 1 pixel burn/dodge tool.
practice, young grasshoppa'.
this isn't exactly too 3d-ish or anything, but it's another one of my burn/dodge tool practices. not a full "piece" you could say, just a fuckaround.

100% burn/dodge tool.
oh yeah. a wacom helps a bit too.
