Here's my mock exam piece. Its Oil on Board, a little over a metre wide.
My initial designs included apocalyptic pictures; Landscape themed.
I had inspiration from Cathy Kollwitz and William Turner.
The process was covering the board completely in Brown Oil. I then used cellulose thinners and turpentine to block out areas of the piece to help my identify the lighter areas. This was crucial in creating my sky.
It was a very exciting process for me as it was the first time i used oil paints. I'm sure i will be revisiting them!
Its really opened my eyes to the capabilities of traditional painting, whilst digital artwork is incredible, i've learnt to appreciate the traditional forms a lot more!
I'd love some feedback on the piece, but id love more for you guys to perhaps share some knowledge/ tips and things to bear in mind about traditional painting.
Thanks for looking!
