Ok, so this is going to layout/press on Monday (17/12/2007) and so is therefore the very FIRST picture that I have ever had published in a graphic novel/comic book...!! Neat huh? She's a mad art teacher (I know how she feels even though I teach Geography)
It's the first of 3 character shots for a kid's book being put out by toastedcoconut media. I've done two others already and I have a group shot of 11 characters and a cityscape shot to do yet. The book is called "Anna Smudge - Trained Pyschiatrist". They'll have a booth at the New York Comic Con in 2008 (right across from the DC stand) so you can see it there!
Pencils by Glenn Fabry - and this is also the first time that I've coloured over toned, grey pencils. Made the job fairly easy actually but I went and had a look at Adi Granov's tutorial that he had on his website first (I've had that saved offline for years - now I know why...) The background is neither here nor there as the picture will be used in a number of contexts with and without various backgrounds so I just whacked something in for now.
Added to this I had to get the 3 characters shots done in less than a week due to press deadlines instead of the 3 weeks that I was meant to have as Glenn got the lineart in late... This as well as working full time in the day job as a teacher. I'm not all that used to deadlines... (and now don't like 'em all that much!)
cheers

congrats on the publication, seane.
awesome job coloring the painting. Very convincing expression. My only suggestion/ crit would be that her arms seem a bit short.
Other then that- phenomenal work! |

I like it. I would have liked to see some of that black linework carry into the hair, at least under the curls and in the darker crevices, to unify the whole piece. The top third feels unfinished right now. |
