Hi all,
Here's another photo study (sorry for the super-size). I will move on to life studies eventually. This is Peter Sarsgaard (sp?), who I always thought has a very compelling face. I'm trying to simplify and pull away from "by the numbers" drawing (though failing miserably so far), so any criticism and tips in this regard would be very welcome.

hey,
first suggestion: use bigger brushes! of course I don't know what look you're after, but this is way to scribbly for me Bigger brushes are more efficient, give you better control and get you thinking more (= learning faster).
second: do some closer / more intense studies! Really put in the time and look closely. get all the values and shapes and edges right. If you work in color get all hue, chroma and temperature right. Its not easy but it'll teach you a lot more than doing 20 fast superficial ones.
hope that helps, keep it up! |
