I'm trying to find a way to use colour to induce certain impressions in the viewer here. Mainly I'm trying to overcome the limitations of realistic painting imposed by a limited gamut and lack of luminosity on the computer screen. The eye sees a whole lot of things in bright sunlight that just can't be put to paper or screen as such. I'm trying to mess with colours in such a way that they will resonate together and seem to blend into colours that aren't really there in the image. Hopefully I'll have time to do a lot of these.
None of these are likely to look finished as I'll just try to work very loosely and see what comes out. Here's the first one, I'll update if/when I do more:
garrh, the forum colours really kill it. |

I think your idea is awesome. I've been doing something like this also. Can't wait to see more. |

Really nice interaction between the colors in that piece. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

something more subtle and perhaps useful at some point
It's kind of liberating to set out not to make a finished painting, but just to solve a problem, however small. I was thinking of including the way the eyelashes cast shadows onto the lens of the eye when you squing and the optical effects that creates, but held back on that front. It's easy to go overboard. |

Affected, very nice on both!
I blurred my eyes on the first, and it looked pretty realistic to me with all the right colors . but of course, you're not going for realism? but rather transcending it and going further with colors, etc. , i think.
well, anyhow, good work. i really like the hand too. _________________ http://www.annisnaeem.blogspot.com/ |
