Not a cityscape this time!
And no, he doesn't have two right hands. It's not an anatomy fault... |

I tried bending my arm like that, but it just wasn't happening. |

Gnnh!
I messed up! Tried to be too clever and messed right up!
OK, here's the deal: I wanted to paint an image where the character is shielding his eyes from this bright light, and I wanted to have both the back of his hand as seen here and his face visible at the same time. I decided to do some severe perspective distortion so that the image would contain two points of view in a sense. However... A right hand is a right hand, no way around it.
GRR. I don't know how I'd fix it though. If I make the hand a left hand there's nothing odd about it anymore, nothing to make the viewer look for clues what's happening. (the shadow on the face was supposed to be one.)
Maybe I'll just call it an artistic decision...
sigh. |

Maybe if you straighten his arm out? Heh, I went and checked it out in my mirror, and I can do it with a straight arm, so you could re-work it a bit and it would be accurate. |

falldamage: the thumb is on the wrong side to be his left hand, even if it the hand is shown from his own viewpoint as it's supposed to be here.
Chris: and THAT was the point exactly with the shadow. Glad that at least works. |

The hand itself is very well done imo, looks nice.
Just pretend you intended to do it that way and find some deeper meaning to it and youre set. |

Could it be that it is not his hand that is wrong but that his head is on backwards? hmmm? See there could be very deep meaning to his painting... |

sumaleth: yea, that works except then there's not much to point at the distortion I was aiming for... Well, maybe there isn't in the original anyway. |

The hand itself is incredibly well-done. And nice lighting choice. *nodnod* Lovely lovely... _________________ DA Gallery| LiveJournal
