OK, Acryl, you are not getting all the fame =). I am right behind you, hahha.
Anyways this is something I did on a lazy Sunday afternoon after lunch.
Nothing to be proud of, just like the technique on the skin and lightning =)
Hope you like it....

That picture reminds me of one Lazur did a while ago. I think the original is by Boris Vallejo though.

I don't think Lazur EVER did a picture like that. And yeah kinda looks like Valejo's.

I think he means "chaos devotion" by Made (the original being by Boris of course).

Anyway, nice pic dP If you want some criticism, the shading on the big horn (the one that comes out of his cheek) looks a bit odd, it's almost completely in shadow but that doesn't seem to match the light sources on the "nose". And the "dithering" into the background with those white circles looks weird here...

I like the colours and the way they
goes in to eachother, but i have problems
with the shadows. Hard to say where the
light source is comming from. The skin also
have a "Bronze" feeling to it, rather than skin.

Does this make sense?

The teeth looks cool!

Hmm... just another Boris-style picture... Bah, silicon reality. dP, your technical skillz are excelent, but your creative vision... hmm... kinda simply. These white/black holes just breaking my heart. Man, can you draw backgrounds huh?

I like your style! The only thing that bothers me are the teeth, they look a bit 2D compared to the rest of the creature. Anyway, nice work!

Oh yeah Leo, that backgrounds you do are SO awesome. I wish I could do something like that. And that woman. Jeeez, so original, so anatomically correct that it hurts. Clouds, oh my god the clouds you did, I though that was a photo from Max images collection.
LIsten to me little fucker. When you do something that I will find more impressive than for instance Acryls/Joachim's/Micke's or even me, I'll bow down and except things you say.
Till then, shut up with those stupid implications.

Mongoose, I am semigod, demigod, halfgod, and the god itself compared to you so you can't say shit, or do shit that I can be offended with. You are the ppl (you know who I am reffering to) that should sit down, think about yourself, your possibilities and your limits. And then you should take a look around yourself, notice who is better than you and decide is it moral towards those ppl to say anything about their work. Or even criticise something.
That about covers it.

Ok der:

I really like the picture, as well as the whole texturing job of the drawing; looks very nice.

However, I think *someone* needs to calm down a little. Just my thoughts...

Mongoose, I apologize for the things said above, overreacted abit.
I won't do that *step of my pedestal*, especially infront of ppl who don't deserve that. I don't go around and shit over, for instance Mullins work coz I can't do it better.
And who has the right to even question my abilities when he himself is something laughable when compared to me. And how can someone call me unimaginative when everything I created was original (except this picture which is just used for testing the technique).
So, Mongoose, if I could see your work *and I obviously can't since there is nothing on your page* I could send you to hell, and insult you as much as I want if I had the background and the base for it *your work* if you insulted me, but I won't coz I don't have it.
Thats something you should think about.
And if you don't find a bit of logic in all that and you take lame critics from ppl that are lame themselves in your field of work, well, thats sad and not respectfull towards yourself, your work and time spent.

Antony, I will not post anything on this forum anymore coz the critiques and feedback lame like some, aren't exactly something I want to read and learn from.
That said, have a good life ppl
And think about yourself a bit.

Hey derpunk,
Take a chill pill man.......Your pics pretty good, but it still needs work, looks a bit unfinished and would probably benifit from having a background.

Wow, cool discussion, I love it -I laugh my ass off every time I read it

People, please be nice !!!

Derpunkt, don't take things to serious. Tip: you should find a really demanding artist-jobb, where your boss piss on you like this every day, then it will be really easy to handle this kind of crap.
Also, every artist here, DerP. included,(except Craig offcourse, hehe) should know this.....most important !....If someone reacts to something with your work, there is always a reason. Even a VERY talented artist can go blind on his own work, even though his/her stupid grandmother could see the mistakes ( I'm NOT refering to your picture, DerPunkt)...But, therefore, everybody should be allowed to comment a piece as long as it has been posted officially for other people to see.....-the only way to learn anything.

Joachim

Hey Petar

I as much as everyone respect your work, in fact I've told you several times privately. I think the picture is very cool, but you did yourslef say that it was "nothing to be proud of." Just because some people are fairly blunt in their assessment of your work, doesn't mean you have to begin slagging off everyone and their cousin . You've got to realise you're not only representing yourself, but the whole 3D Palette community when you go airing your opinions. I couldn't really care what your opinions are, in fact I find them quite amusing, but a lot of people don't. Flasher and I are spending considerable resources and time in an attempt to develop 3d palette, and we were hoping that you would be an integral part of that development. Hey, we're not paying you anything, but believe me when I say the time is fast approacching when we will be able to. Something for you to think about...
-Dave
PS. Take this message for what it is. I would hope we're still friends, so take it as some friendly advice.

joachim, yeah man, I understand that. I'll go thru this discussion till the end and I after that I won't post no more, or do replies. Boss, you say, hahha.
Yeah, but boss would surely know more than me, so I would dig his comment. Not rubish like this.
Craig. Nice of you to drop by, but you haven't seen me commenting that sink you did. I could say; Eh hell, Spooge Demon, that sink pipe doesn't look like metal. Man, can you draw metal anyways, huh? Its not fair, coz I know if you wanted to do it you would, right.
Kyri. Yeah, does look unfinished to you. What do you expect of 2 hours of work.
However it is finished regarding its purpouse. The technique on doing a tight, metalic skin works, so, working on it isn't needed. After all, I wouldn't release a copied picture just to show what I am working on. I would never do that and go around calling it "art" or something.

Dave, I take 3DP very seriously as much as I take myself and my work serious. But this is something I have to go thru, beacause it hurts me. I just can't let something so lame being pointed at me, you know. I know this goes right to the bone of everyone, and ofcourse this will result me not recieving a single comment from anyone. I could live with that but it would be depressing. Imagine me going and post some stupid comments about Kenneth Scott. "AAH, the guy is unimaginative just bcoz he redrawed some photo."
If there is no problem with you I would like to do an article about copying/photos and digital art in whole and to post it.

uhm derPunkt..I quote:

"And who has the right to even question my abilities when he himself is something laughable when compared to me"

I mean, how can you say that?
It is called critisme, you really need to learn how to take critism, your pics are great ,but still if someone says, hey its a bit lifeless, or ehm that shading isnt right, just read & go with the advice if you wanna, or just ignore it. You dont need to get so angry. Even if someone is not better then you, why cant he critism your picture?? I mean, its just a comment. You cannot espect EVERYONE to say, your pic is just 100% perfect you know. What do you espect when you post a pic on a forum??

Hmmmmm, damn, I didn't mean to say something like that. supposed to be ....you DO something laughable when compared to me.....
And, Binke, when I post something, I expect constructive criticism. Why am I not pissed at lets say Saffron who said the lightning is wrong? Bcoz its wrong. The comment has its weight. I know its wrong, but I don't care, coz if I wanted it to look with 100% real lightning, I would do it and I know how to do it. See =))

I understand that it may be a bit annoying if Leo posted a reply like that, but, sheesh, just try to cool off a bit.
