What is the best way to package and ship paintings, large digital prints, or delicate weird shaped art? Any experience or advice would be appreciated!

I found for FedEx it would cost about $370.00 to ship a 4'x8' piece of plywood about 1500 miles.

UPS won't even touch anything bigger than about 2'x8' and that cost about $130.00.

I've noticed that rather than doing really huge pieces, people are doing more triptychs<Sp?>

Also, I saw somewhere that when an artist does a really huge canvas, it can be shipped by dismounting it from the frame and rolling it into a tube. Does this hurt the painting? How would the customer get it back onto a frame?
