Hey, I'm a newbie so I have no idea what kind of scanner I should get. I have Windows XP [I heard scanners have different compatibility levels?]

I'm looking in the $100-200 range [I don't exactly have money spilling from my pockets] but I also want to get a scanner that scans images well and such. I've been browsing best buy and I'm sort of just thinking about these scanners:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1069300463921&skuId=6233569&type=product

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1074787976352&skuId=6307686&type=product

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1074787976472&skuId=6307739&type=product

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1083714168034&skuId=6715101&type=product

But then again I really don't know what's good and what's not. *shurgs* Any help?

I dont know about any of those. But I've had a $135 HP for 2 years with no problems. It only scans at 1200 dpi, but I can't imagine why you'd need more than that for scanning drawings. And I'm running xp.

All these companies make solid scanners and you are not looking at anything fancy. You probably cannot go wrong with any of those. If you wish to be sure, you can search for comments/complain about individual models.

PS. I have used visioneer, microtek and HP scanners at work. Have got 2 HP scanners and one HP All in One (including scanner) at home right now (the oldest not used but cannot bear to discard). Have no complaint about any of these brands.
