Here is another magazine cover that i had done mainly for the European/Asian market. It was out on shelves sometime ago, around April or May i think. (Comments below image)

I am not super happy with how Alyx's nose turned out, but after printing it was so small it didnt matter anymore Rolling Eyes

. A bit annoyed with the low detail on the antlions in the foreground too, but i ran out of time. I started by posing a couple 3D models (click for image) that i had built for the same characters in the game as a reference to start from since it was a rather difficult angle to capture (for me) and then spent a lot of time reworking the lighting and adding a lot more detail since the models i had were quite low-poly and the textures i made for the game were too.

The background was a screenshot from the game that i smoothed over with highlights, falling ash, birds, clouds, and some atmosphere. (I only had a few days to work on this)

really, really nice, think the nose looks natural, that slight flare of the nostril gives it character, drool, sorry, nahh, drool's some more

Hiya....first of all....the lady is _superb_ . Perfect blend-in, very nice face, very ....perfect.

Now..the guy...I dont really like his face. It's a bit too much like real photo (credit there for you hehe) and then appears "copy pasted" in a drawn body. The lighting doesnt quite match - his face is far too light and really looks like it's not belonging with the body - very "out of context".

By all means the face itself is very well drawn - buyt that might be exactly what's the problem here...the realism is far more advanced then the body, and it lacks the slightly "rendered/artificial" look of the rest of the picture.

If you look at the girls face you might notice she has a "rendered" appearance too..e.g. not perfectly lifelike, and slightly more "matte" skin ...and the guy perhaps because of the detail (he's on the foreground) and the lightness of his skin just looks...odd...

Talking from a photographer perspective here by the way, not a drawer's Smile

Such great work. I really love the new suit. Professionalism at it's best. The only thing I would like to see, is Dhabih's new take the HEV helmet.

Hey Dhabih, I like this one alot too. I didn�t see that cover around here, but then I don�t buy or even look at real life gaming magazines. Again I really like how you made Gordon so much better and badass than the image I had in mind of him from HL1.

Congrats Dhabih, I really dig what you have done with these two. I think I saw this one at E3 as a really big ATI ad hanging on a wall. I guessed it had to be your stuff, thumbs up!
