hrmm about 3 hours with my new 4x5 wacom graphire 3, ps 7.
brush size 3px working at 200% this was shrunk down by 20 pixels h/w.
im not too good at colors but here was my shot:

I like it, but it looks a bit unfinished for me.
I think you should give to it more volume, the black background make the image too flat.
Like the colors and details, keep it up!

I agree with insanelight. Its a really cool drawing and the colors are good but it needs more depth. Maybe add some more to the drawing and make it seem like this strange thing is emerging from the shadows in the background instead of just lying flat on a black table. Thats a really neat drawing though.
