London - A cleaner at the Tate gallery threw out a modern art exhibit because she thought it was rubbish.
She thought the piece, cardboard and paper and wrapped in a see-through binliner, was a bag of litter, reports The Sun.
She had no idea it was all part of an installation by German artist Gustav Metzgerand displayed on the floor at London's Tate Britain.
Metzger's work, First Public Demonstration Of Autodestructive Art, stood proudly in the gallery's Art And The Sixties display.
He has been offered compensation by gallery bosses, who refused to say what the exhibit was worth.
A Tate spokesperson said: "The bag was accidentally removed and damaged but was subsequently replaced." |

Talk about a destructive critic. Imagine applying these principles to, say, a painting by Sargent; trashing it, and then subsequently REPLACING by something else. Respect. _________________ What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

You're comparing a "modernist" piece to Sargent? Try again . . .

Oh shaddup.
I'm not exactly the biggest fan of modern art myself, I just found this article very amusing. _________________ What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

haha thanks chruser... i agree, very amusing, and not one bit surprising, the piece really lived up to its auto-destructive name. not sure why they felt the need to replace it though.. o well!
