this isnt reallydigital plein air but it is an overpaint of an acrylic painting i started behind my dads house, but the weathers been so crappy i havent been able to work on it for weeks.... so i got fed up and finished it digitally.
i had some stuff i was trying to do with this...mostly lightening my palette and using no black.trying to make it look like sunlight is just sooooo difficult.anyway rip it apart id like to hear it!

hey watmough, this is not bad, not bad at all I really like this painting.

I know the feeling with the rain there cause I have mostly been doing indoors work this summer because of the rain, can't really go outdoors with oils in the rain, hmm maybe with a big umbrella.

Anyway, I was going to tell you about that forests when observing them go darker in the shadows but as u said u did brighter shadows intentionally. Still though I think that if you would have made the branches and inside shadow in the shrubbery a bit darker the sunlight would have been more visible, since you asked about the sun.
Can we see the acrylic one too? As I said above I like it so add the stuff on the acrylic one like you did here and u have a finished painting. Smile

keep up the good work

it rains alot on tatooine, does it?lol... youre from sweden, right?i have a feelin that the climates pretty similar here-rain,rain and more rain.
yeah ,youre probably right about the values....but i really wanted to try and paint in a higher key this time...oh well guess its back to work.
well here is the original sketch i started.i scanned it but its pretty big-20x24 inches-real pain to scan and kind of quickly put it together-

and here is my final acrylic painting-keep in mind its a terrible picture

yea sweden and yea rainy hehe. Smile

U know what, I think I like the first acrylic sketch the most but none of them are bad. If you wanna keep painting on the last one and the final acrylic painting u can dilute like a pale blue color with water and paint over like a layer, keep in mind though very thin. Kind of like the same when you change color balance in photoshop.
I tried out that last year when I was mostly doing acrylics and the best I could come up with was to wet a sponge really wet, and then u mix water and a pale color or a strong vibrant, depends on what kind of mood you are looking for. Then u add this thin layer over the painting from which after u can continue to paint.
If you were to use oils there are similars tecniques there too with different fixes and such. Maybe u know about this stuff, thought I could mention it though if you were looking for that kind of painting u did in that digital version.

I don't like to work with acrylic though cause everything has to be rushed and many things about the painting is lost, especially when one is adding to a sketch. I only work with oils now and with oil u can keep changing all the time, fits me like a glove.

ok keep up the good work, btw if you keep continue with the finished one it would be cool to see the progress later.
