hiyas. i've always liked the idea of having a totally dark/black color scheme for windows but it would never be 100% compatible with stuff

i'm trying it again, this time through a hacked windowblinds skin, and for the most part it is working nicely.

however PHOTOSHOP is impossible with black, cause it renders it's text it's own way and says eff off to windows color settings. is there a way to manipulate photoshop's icons and text colors somehow? i was thinking reshack for some of the icons but that'd take forever...

i'm pretty sure it's impossible but i figured i'd throw it out there anyway.

um what version photoshop are you using? i just installed window blinds (gonna make mine all gray!)... photoshop seems to accept the skins i've tried.. or maybe i don't know which part you're talking about?

the only thing i've found that wasn't in the controlpanel was the fullscreen background colour, i have a dark skin in stylexp, and my colours set through display/appearance, all dark, then ctrl click your fill bucket onto the background of your fullscreen to change that to your ps foreground colour, i don't think it's possible to change the icons or text without some severe screwing around, with a strong possibility of screwing up ps's stability

I have explored it some and there is always something that is beyond your control, it stays bright and really screws up your eyes. Better to leave it grey and let your eyes close down a little.

I can't stand the screaming white BG of the brushes palette, esp when working on a dark image. Bamm! gives me a headache.

I made a feature request on adobes user forum. Don't know what else to do.

I bet someone who knew what they were doing could hack something together, though.

ah well it turns out that photoshop is really really screwed up . i think the text color is an internal setting. boy i'd like to find that puppy.

i did find the two color settings that photoshop seems to rely on. they are buttonFace and buttonHighlight

you can access them through the normal appearance window by select '3d objects' BUT that will also alter other colors like different shadows and stuff. sort of hard to explain.

in anycase right now i have my all black scheme working pretty much okay, and when i have to use photoshop i change my color scheme w/ windowblinds running. i'd love a way to make a batch file or something so it can change the colors when it loads photoshop and changes them back when i exit. probably asking too much . i know what the registry keys are, i just don't know how to make them take effect.

I gave up too. That brush palette is still white, no changing that.

Balistic, no not really. I think they asked me to do something at an illustrator symposium involving a glass booth and ping pong balls, but I told them nice artists don't do that kind of thing.

I remember seeing a geek hierarchy somewhere, with published artists and writers at the top. At the bottom were people who get married in star trek costumes and write erotic furries poetry, preferably mixing themselves and Kirk and spock in there too.

In the pantheon of PS users, digital artists are down there on the chart. I can't really be surprised or upset about it, look at the art that is most numerous around the web. It would require someone to think about it and take a risk to say "this work is different, and possibly better..." So the easy stereotype wins the day. But I am not saying that my stuff is any better than erotic furries, I am hopelessly low to middle brow in my tastes, so I think I will go get a burger now and read my comics and not worry too much about it.

But if digital artists are the butt of jokes from the aesthetic giants who do real creative work with PS ("we are creative professionals!") little do they realize that they are the butt of jokes from people further up the food chain.

Ok what's the problem? Just install Stardock Windowblinds Enhanced 4(or up) and youll get what you want. No screaming whites in PS anymore.

Any scheme can be greyscaled and darkened in any way you want. There are simple schemes on the CD, no fancy stuff and very useful

spooge actually when i was making an alternate grey scheme (cause black wouldn't work) the brush pallete was gray too. in photoshop cs at least, i don't know version you use.

Eugene, thanks for the idea. I looked at windowblinds and skin studio and it is a little too involved for such a minor problem (and one that can hopefully be solved other ways)

c, I could not get the stroke thumbs to be grey, but the regular thumbs are now grey. Problem solved! thanks!

hey c, if it's not too much to ask. would you mind posting your windows blinds skin? i'm lazy, i know.. hehe.. i tried fuddling with it but there seems to be a ton of parameters to mess with!
