Just got my new computer. Want to get going with digital art.

Have a decent wacom and just want some ideas for relatively simple projects.
I thought about copying from photos, but then thought against it.

You could take a look at the thread about tutorials/advice/etc in this forum, you could also start with the cubes excercise or if you just want ideas, do a search for the 500 list, a list with 500 topics for painting.
