Hi all;

I have a problem with the performance of my pc..
I've just bought a 19'' Samsung Syncmaster 955b monitor, which has a maximum resolution of 1600x1200@60hz.
I wanted to use it at 1280x1024@75hz but the performance of some tools in painter (pen: fine point for example) slowed
obviously down, it loses the real time feeling and the lines are getting cracky on fast drawings which wasn't the case at
my older 14'' monitor at all (I used 1024x768@?hz). But when I set the resolution to 1024x768@85 or 100hz, the performance
gets better again, it is again real time. But this time the resolution sucks a bit as you know. And only in that res. it is working
good, but at higher res. the performance sucks.

I would like to know if there is a solution in order to use it properly at a higher res with my current system(1280x1024@75hz wolud be great).
Maybe some adjustments of the 'setting the use of memory' in the graphic card sections or something like that.
But unfortunately I guess the problem may be with my graphic card...any solutions? Or do I have to upgrade anything? Sad(

ps: I've been having the same problems on photoshop since 14'' monitor, but the painter problem came with the 19'' monitor.

Here is my system in case necessary:

19'' Samsung monitor (max 1600x1200@60hz)
P4 1,4 CPU
256 mb RAM 133mhz
32 mb tnt nvidia M64 graphic card

Thanks in advance.

going higher then the maximum can damage your monitor. Rolling Eyes

http://www.newegg.com/ has some good cards at low prices i would say that maybe its not only your graphics card but maybe system memory. 32mb card is ok so is 256mb but if you have the funds boost the card to a 128mb at least and a 512ram for the system. Thats basically all the help i can give to you...other option would be contact monitor company/software for tech support.

128MB of RAM on the video card won't make the slightest difference when dealing with 2D images.. the RAMDAC speed is what matters for 2D display

1280x960 is the proper display res for a 19"CRT 1280x1024 is TFT..

what OS are you running?

what res canvas u painting on?

what video drivers u running?

Remember refresh rates(Hz) are how many pictures(frames) your monitor can draw per second. So if you're used to 100Hz (100 frames per second(fps)) setting it to 75Hz would be quite noticable since you're now only running at 75fps.
