Merry Christmas Sijun friends.
Its been a while since I made a new thread and posted a more of a finished picture. Heres one I made in one sitting (1,30-2 hours) and I really enjoyed to make this picture.
My mostly concern nowadays is the colors and the balance of my pictures and perhaps that can be seen in this one.
Feel free to give me advice, also overpaints is very much appreciated.
ok its time to crank up the volume and listen to Iron Maiden again.
see you

Awesome! Your getting damn good at this!
Only crit I can think of is the light saber dosent give off that much light in the light. It dosent seem to fit with the glow on the two charictors. With a darker composition I would expect such a glow.
Keep up the good work! _________________

You're getting better, but there are a few things I notice that need work. I'm not the person to show you how, but I'll try my best. There's no real atmopshere or mood in this picture, the lighting is bland and seems to be coming from everywhere. The lightsabers lack impact, especially the icicle in the foreground. Traditionally, they are painted as solid white sabers with only the glow indicating the color, makes them look a lot brighter. Thirdly is the anatomy and the stiff, awkward poses. As I said, I'm definitely not the guy to show you how to fix that, so I left the anatomy alone here. Fourth is the composition. Not really sure what's going on in the picture, but the foreground character would have more impact if he wasn't cropped in half, or if he was facing the other two completely. I think I'm rambling, I'm really half asleep right now, so I'll just show you my quick, sloppy overpaint that I did with the mouse. Basically what it's meant to tell you is that you could go much further with the atmosphere and lighting. Maybe not preferably as dark as mine turned out, but whatever. No more typing.

i feel like one main light source would be better, more dramatic-and it never hurts to make the format more like widescreen.you know? |

just some comments.
I think the balance thing worked fine.
Maybe the lighting on JODA is too much.
also the hidden lightsword from the first person would not cause any for us visible "reflections". and even if, not that much.
Check the perspective of the door back.
Just some thoughts ... keep up Matthew. |

Nice one Matthew. Especially because it's Star wars, I love Star Wars!
I think much more important than the lightsources of the lightsabers is correct composition.
It's way better then in your old pics but it's not perfect.
You could add more elements in the BG and make the whole scene darker.
Croppin it to widescreen like watmough said is always a good idea IMHO.
Sometimes it's better (and easier ofcourse) to fake reality......
Have a nice day and keep it up! |
