I've been trying to calibrate my monitor for the past few hours, but the results are a bit disturbing. I searched the forum archives and came across the link to Nickyguides. I used the Adobe Gamma Wizard, and now my monitor looks a bit darker than it was previously. Comparing the image that I have a print of (glossy Kodak print on Royal paper) to the one displayed on my monitor shows that they match more closely than they previously did.
However, all my other images now look dark on my screen. I'm afraid that I'll miss a lot of details by painting in this (darker) setting because I won't be able to see light sheens and such. I'm also afraid that what I think is an apt ray of light might look far too bright for web viewers.
So, did I calibrate my monitor incorrectly? I want to be able to make optimum images for both web and print with just one setting, is that possible?
Sorry for the bother. Any help would be appreciated! |

solutions range in cost from $20-$300
i use colorific which sets up my screen producing a colour profile for any monitors you have connected and for your printer |
