Photoshop an old sketch and speedpaint and a few partial days of boredom. Thoughts? C&C... all welcome.

http://www.stormpages.com/gamingvision/doe.htm

Its on stormpages... sorry about that. *shrugs*

This pic was given a lack of attention at another place I frequent (IRC channel) ... but I am hoping its to do with the time delay thing rather than my art piece. Anyways... rip it to shreds, whatever. Tell me whats wrong/good.

Thanks

Hmm, cool concept but I do have some problems with it.

To start, his face is skewed...look at the nob between his brows in the center of his head. If you draw a line straight down, it bisects his nostrols...but his head is at an angle and that line should be at an angle also...this theme seems to continue throughout his face. The horns, for example. The rest of the anamoty looks pretty good from what I can tell.

The cave walls look too organic...in my opinion they need a harsher, more angular structure ti contrast with the figure. Or perhaps just more dynamic lighting. The figure is obviously emerging into some fairly significant light, but I see no evidence of that on the rocks. In fact, it seems to get darker the higher up you go, when it should probably be getting lighter. (Although too much light there would definately detract from the center of attention on the figure, so I'm inclined to go with a more dynamic and edged look to the rocks.)

I'm not sure what's up with that secondary light source on the creature...he seems to be lit from behind by some sort of green glow, yet everything else is mysteriously devoid of this illumination. I really like the backlighting, it just needs to at least show up on a few other places like the cavern walls or something.

And finally, I don't like the Den of Evil title accross the top...it makes it look like a sign...like "C'mon down to the Den of Evil! We've got all yer evil needs!" Wink

I DO really like the concept, and I like the texturing and sort of hairy edges you rendered on the beast. The grass is very nice too, but I think it needs a few more colors...it looks like it was done with the dodge/burn tool.

Anyways, hope you don't mind my comments.

Nice CG and great composition, but your devil is rather nice than evil Smile Maybe some additionas light in his eye's and some red highlights from cage? Or rooting grass under his feet? Think about it Smile

thanks guys.

fukifino: Yes now that you point it out there are a lot of irregularities with the facial structure. I'll see what I can do. And yes I did use the dodge/burn tool to make the piece more dynamic between the light and darks... but the basics were all still done with the airbrush tool. Will remove that logo on the next reincarnation of it. And I'll see what I can do to make the environment more dynamic.

tiger1313: Too nice? Heh alright then... hmm more pointy teeth I suppose. Very Happy

I knew I could get some great constructive feedback from this place. Hoorah.
