This is a digital painting (Photoshop/Painter Classic) I've done as a birthday present for my mum (shhhh don't tell her, she doesn't know yet!). I must admit I've spent much, much longer on this than anything else I've done for ages; I spent possibly too long worrying about the face:

Detail:

Large Version Here:

I made a couple of really rough sketches, and took it from there. Anyway, even though I've put it in the finished section, I may well make changes to it, depending on any advice you guys can give me? I'd recommend looking at the large version by the way Smile

Thanks!

i like it ! nice composition, and i do not feel the time you spend on it, it seems to be an "easy" paint for you.
i think your mum will be happy !

My friend here you go again and I can tell you.... some parts of this painting are excellent

the composition
the background (to the right) - interesting but not too much...
the lovely way you have to tell us about his shirt and tye - I love it (with the typical LePensky-nerv Wink )

As you have allready said it yourself - I can just agree with you, concerning the face.
The brick wall seems a bit odd in the perspective IMO and far to accentuated but still a good background to his face and a beautiful colour as contrast to the blue.

Anyway Im also sure your mother will be very happy - even if you dont change anything! Smile

Am I the only one who thinks he looks like he's sticking his hands down his pants? This is good, but if I didn't know what it was for I might think it was a bit creepy.

Drew: I see that large blue are in bottome corner as one of his le up at an angle, resting on the other knee, or some similar pose, rather than as his waist, with his hands resting on his folded up leg.

I like the ear a lot, maybe not exactly the focal point but I like it.

Thanks for all the comment folks,

I'm glad people generally seem to like it, Capt. Fred you are correct in your description of the posture, although, Drew, I see what you mean when you say "he's sticking his hands down his pants" heh

Bobuke, I can always count on you for comments, and I love the way you describe the 'LePensky-nerv' Smile

So, thanks again to you all for your comments, I'm quite inspired to create another image now!
