this has probably been asked before..
i'm going to buy two new computers very soon, and i was wondering where on the net i can customize a cpu with a good price... was thinking of a price around 1,500 for each computer...i was looking at alienware.com, and if i had no other choice, i would buy it from there. but the computers seem to be very expensive on that site.. maybe i'm missing something
but if some of you know of a few good sites to buy computers, please post.. i just don't want to buy them from a site that i don't know and regret it later
thanks |

Alienware... the most expensive sh*t that you can possibly come up with
Check out www.newegg.com cause i built a computer for someone from parts bought at that site. Some prices are excellent, while others are just good. |

Hey Shizo..
thanks for your reply.. that site looks very good.. but sadly i have never build a computer myself, and i'm too chicken to try it..
does it come out cheaper if i buy the parts separately and build it myself?
hmm..i would probably end up getting an amd motherboard and a pentium processor it wouldn't work
if i decide to buy the parts, would you mind looking at them to see if they would work together? |

Hehe
No dude, they should have barebone computers, or even complete systems on that site.
Nowdays it's not a lot cheaper to buy parts unfortunately |

Shizo, there are no complete systems in that site i can't find any...
anyway... i've decided to build the computers from parts
so i have looked around for hardware parts and it seems the price does drop..a little..
here they are...
processor (260.64) Pentium 4 (2.8GHz, 512KB, 533MHz, Socket 478)
motherboard (187.93) P4C800-E Deluxe Pentium 4 w/ HT, ATX, 4GB DDR-SDRAM, 400/533/800MHz FSB
Gcard (786.95) Quadro FX1000 AGP 128MB DDR (Dual - DVI/DVI)
2 memory (154.46) 512MB Unbuffered Non-ECC DDR266 PC2100 184 pin DIMM
tower case (81.55) SX835II Performance II Series ATX Mid Tower
HARDDRIVE (77.87) DiamondMax Plus 80GB (EIDE,UDMA 133, 7200 RPM)
CD-DRIVE (61.25) CDRW/DVD 48X24X48X16 EIDE w/ Nero Software
power supply (70.41) True Power 430W Power Supply Gold Plated Connectors
these and the rest of the supplies come at about a little more than 1700... which is ok i guess... but i want to know if they are any good and if they would work together..
also, i want to know if the prices are any good, the brand, etc...
thanks |

Jesus.. i don't even know if i can comment on that. It never even crossed my mind to buy parts that expensive
But yeah.. i mean why the hell not? If it's that expensive, it MUST be good!
I can only suggest that you get a 800FSB cpu, cause if your mobo can support 800FSB, why not use it? And also i would suggest getting a faster FSB ram..
Man.. that's some expensive shyt |

Alienware is expensive. Do some research and build your own system. Its the only way to get a system with the most power possible for the best price possible completely customized to your satisfaction.
If you plan to do anything high end with Photoshop I suggest a crap load of ram and a dual processor system.

Good luck with your construction venture. When buying motherboard you must check the chipset - if you want performance you must go for the new 875 chipset - has the highest memory bandwidth - that is how quickly you can get data in and out of memory - important for image processing.
check http://www.axiontech.com as an alternate supplier and http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/bz for technical info |
