Don't forget the addition of ImageReady 2.0... It totally rocks(!). I especially like the 4-up preview display.

And technically, there weren't any text layers in 4.0. It was a damn making new layers for texts if the old one wasn't satisfying. Blech!

That's what I meant about the text.
also, I sort of overlooked the fact you use 5.5, but from what I hear it's not that different from 5.0, anyhow.

I am pretty sure this has come up before, about diffrent photoshop versions, but i have signed up for a photoshop course. The problem is the course is useing Version 4.0, and i have been useing version 5.5. Will any of the things i learned in 5.5 be relavent to the 4.0 class? And i want to do alot of the work at home, where i use 5.5. Anyone with any info on this please respond.
Thanks, and no more CAPITOLS! sorry 'bout that.

you shouldn't have too much trouble. The most obvious changes are the addition of the history palette, and changes to the text tools. (In 4.0, the text is automatically rendered, not placed on a special text layer)

Everybody says that the older the PS version, the better. I've been using 5.0 so far, and I gave 3.0.5 a spin the other day at my friend's work. I totally hated it. The selection tool sucks, the text on the same layer is totally lame, and the lack of history undo was the one that bummed me the most.
I know that a lot of ppl out there including Dhabih prefer 3.0.5, probably cuz they got used to it like that, but 5.0+ makes your work a lot faster and easier.

I agree with shrimpish. The history is a bliss for us all.
I started working with PS 4.0, now i have 5.0 and I welcome the changes they made.
For example the automatic effects. I think there are some pros and cons about doing the effects by own hand or using the automatic effects, but for simple improvements on text or sth like this the AE are pretty good.
