I need some help and advise to finish off the base texture for a cigar. The cigar will be a primary object in a 9000x6000px image I am working on.
12.5%
50%
100%
Any suggestions on making this more realistic would be greatly appreciated. I plan to add water wear damage to the right end. To the left end I plan to burn the texture and add ash. But, for now all I have is the base texture. _________________ http://prettydiff.com/ |

The top pic screams photoshop clouds. And the lines in the second pics look totally CG. I think the best thing you could do for your texture is to get a cigar and scan in at highrez.
The second best thing would be to get a noise pattern (instead of the clouds filter) from a real-life photo.
Then for the lines, draw a bunch of similar lines on actual paper with ink and scan in. The varying lines widths that would result will add greatly to the effect.
I'm bad with words. Let me know if I'm not making sense.

Hey
I think it looks pretty good when you resize it to a smaller version but it is too black on the edges, I will post a picture to show you what I mean.
