This is just ranting...
I'm kind of upset right now...just got this new online game, I've played it a few times before and it's really cool, but now I actually have it. Anyway, I installed the thing, but lo and behold, I can't play it. Why? Because I have to have 1024x768 monitor resolution. Guess what I rediscover, my old crappy prehistoric monitor does not support higher than 800x600! I can't reconfigure the game because the latter is the lowest resolution it offers. I can't buy a new monitor because I'm dirt poor.
On my old monitor, I had it on 1024x768 all the time, but then it exploded and I got this crappy hand me down monitor from caveman days...
I guess I'm just mad because this particular minimum requirement was not mentioned on the box, or maybe because monitors are so freaking expensive (relative to how much money I have right now). Sure, that resolution is fairly common.......but so is 800x600. I think in all fairness this requirement should have been made clear.
Because what about those of us with crappy monitors and no income? We're S.O.L, that's what!

Monitors are dirt cheap, especially if you aren't looking for flat screen or lcd.
You can get a .22 pitch 17" for like, 120 bucks. _________________ QED, sort of. |

For about over US$150, you can get a decent monitor from some reliable brands like Philips, Samsung, etc. , even if you decide to buy it from some hardware store.
Anyway, most people usually spend a gazillion of cash on useless stuff which they don't even need, that's why they're usually broke. Unless you're really poor or something. _________________ I am asexual. Neither male nor female. |

keeping the people with dark ages wood-and-iron style computers in mind does not get you money OR saintly halo points. _________________ "hey, wanna dance?"

i feel so guilty reading this post knowing that i paid $45 CDN for my 99' model 19", it's not like monitors can be hard-driven like video cards or CD-ROM drives, so I was pretty sure of the quality when I swiped it off my friend when he bought his 21" Sun Microsystems monitor (the one I bought is a KDS Visual sensations btw).
sorry if this makes someone irate. But I feel for ya, I was h4x0ring away on my 15' monitor with a max rez of 1152x864 on drivers that werent even for the monitor, and max rez of 1024x768 with manufacturer drivers, it made me insane) _________________ Just remember, when in doubt, even monkeys fall from trees sometimes. |
