I am sure many of you have heard of the popular Photoshop plugin called Kai's Power Tools. While many of us disagree on the proper use and relevance of filters and filter plugins there is still a bit of theory that goes with any tool to benefit any artist if properly understood.
I was surfing through a new forum I recently discovered when I found Kai's Power Tips. Its a series of white papers written by Kai Krause about techniques and theorys of the basic usability aspects of Photoshop. The papers are about 10 years old. While software versions, tools, and filters have changed greatly since Photoshop 2.0 actual broad techniques have not truely changed much since Photoshop incorporated channel masks and layers into its functionality.
I believe this is a good read for anybody who wishes to expand their theory and usability with Photoshop. I believe these white papers could be an awesome bit of information espically to this community where the members are awesome painters and sketchers but often fail to grasps many of the higher concepts of working in a digital environment.
Enjoy!
