Hi, this is my first post with anything of mine in it. and I kinda got a problem, I suck, but a norrower path to take would be I suck at making backrounds so if anyone thinks they could help with a paint over or a few simple lines have a look at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/1885642 and im deeply sorry for its max size, its my scanners fault I swear. the style im going for is kinda comic like and sometimes unpraportionate(sp?), but the guns I sorta messed up on.

I forgot to specify, the desired backround would be a warehouse or a ofice building rooftop, and as you see from the picture there is only white for backround cause I messed up so many times I just left it white so not to show my embarasing failures

You should probably post the image here ... maybe like that:
show the preview and link to the big version.
Why didn't you just resize it if you think it's too big? (I don't think it's too big btw.)
The filesize could be smaller though. Try a higher compression.

I like the style.
I think it's ok that the proportions are supposed to be stylized.
But you shouldn't use that as an excuse if people think it doesn't look good.
I think it has a lot of potential. But not all of the guns should be viewed directly from the side.
It makes the image look flat.

Think more about perspective and try to make it look more three dimensional.

Drawing/painting backgrounds is something you want to learn, right?
Don't be shy ... post sketches that show what you had in mind.
Then try to explain why you don't like your version and what should be different.

Thank you AndyT, for posting my pic and for your comments. I have always messed up image tags some way or another so I didnt want to risk it. as for resizing it, I accualy like the size I was just thinking of people with 56k.
The proportions arent an exuse, just the way I draw some times.
I thought about different angles for the guns but decided to go with an easyer perspective for me to draw, im going to change it though.
I guess ill scratch up some kind of backround and post it.

That's how I did the link thing:
[URL=http://www.url1.com][IMG]http://www.url2.com[/IMG][/URL]

I think the gun in the standing guy's right hand looks a lot better now.

You already wrote a disclaimer btw ... the quick sketch is just fine Wink
Hopefully there will be more replies.

Right now the image is a little empty.
Maybe you could search google for rooftop images if you need ideas
... or if you think you need reference (it's not cheating)!

The tutorial Max posted is good.

The new version looks cool already.
Just the roof looks ascending because the perspective is not 100% correct.
The parallel lines should all have the same vanishing point.

There's a lot about perspective in the Loomis Books:
Creative Illustration
Successful Drawing
