Hey guys, once again I'm gonna do this step by step from start to finish. This one started as a speed painting(about 30-40 minutes), and quickly turned into a big mess. But we'll try to sort it out.
Here's the first draft:
And the second:
I've begun detailing some of the clouds. But I'll be dashed if I have a focal point yet. I'm thinking of either a tower or a floating city or some other generic piece of nonsense. A character would be even better. Mayhaps something to do with the clouds too, since they're so prominent.

Well, we're back to this style again. The other was getting out of hand, and although I liked its...colorfullness, this should be more successful. Just have to find a direction to take it.

Critiques always wanted, and any comments very warmly welcomed. _________________ -Anthony

Holy. :)
Very nice and I remember when you posted the speedy earlier.
It would be very cool with some stuff in the Matte area, some towers or something back in the bright yellow area. Maybe a ship down in the valley or maybe several ships.
Maybe, I just came up with this when I looked at the picture. You could add a forest in the valley, it could be a lot of spruges.
Remember these are just tips cause I like how the picture is now but the spruges would do the trick. :)
Keep up the good work, btw, I think you are the best in this forum with textures, every time I see some texture work with you its totally amazing.

These are amazing. I think you took a few steps back with the last version though, it's a little dark and muddy for my tastes. Not nearly as visually appealing as number three, which I love. Dunno where you could take it though, maybe lightning hitting something/someone? That was my first thought, but it sounded a lot better in my head. |

Hey guys, thanks for the great comments!
Matthew - Glad you liked it - do you mean "spruces" ? I agree, I'm gonna add some buildings.
Tinusch - Mucho gracias, I agree. I was, err, persuaded by a friend I've gone back to the other version, and have figured out what I'm gonna do with the pic. Should come out nice if I can pull it off. But yeah, we're back to the lighter, warmer colors again. ;] I'll post something tonight. _________________ -Anthony

Hey, thanks guys! I disagree about me being such a wonderful texture dude, but its appreciated. Here's the latest version. Still early on the Sky Wyrm, gonna play around a lot to find something suitable. Gonna integrate him more into the clouds too. Paintovers and crits welcome remember!

Hey
Im glad you went back to that one, maan this is amazing, cant give you any tips thou but maybe you could have something in the right corner that he is attacking.
Edit - one more thing when I am looking at the picture, I thought it was a little road but I guess its meant to be a river. I think you can do the river a bit bigger, or should I say thicker in the front end.
Keep it up

Hey, thanks for the continued support Matthew. Here's the latest version. I'm debating how to texture his head, and I still have to work the figure, as its just blocked in without detail so far. After that I hope to be done!

Of course I have to follow this work, it is so cool. :)
One thing thou, I think you placed the knight to high. Maybe his head could be in the horizon level like the back mountains but maybe you want more of a frog view looking up?
As a texture on his head and nose, it woul be cool with spikes on the nose going up to the forehead.
The river turned out really good in the last picture.
Keep it up

That pose and position look great. With the right lighting, this will come out perfect. |
