Hey! I know you work in Valve which is why I want to ask you one, just one question? How's it going with TF2 there?? I mean, c'mon, that media black out is a damn stupid decision. I know you can't speak about it, but at least, tell me if it's on target to be released this year or not... pleeease =)

Well, ok i'll just say that its looking very good. with the new MRM technology, you can get right up to another player and see so much more detail in the players face than what we are used to in other games.
I cant wait to play the finished game myself either!

Dhab,
This might be answered somewhere else but i was wondering if you could tell me what your role's are at Valve. Do you create the Player Models/skins/textures, etc.? I think that if they have you working on the detailed faces or any details period, this game is going to surely have some incredible graphics. If they just have you doing Illustrations, Lemme at ummm!!!

I'd say this HL:OF add in PCgamer it made by Dhab =) But for some reasong someone else edited it at the end and one thing came out really crappy and in low quality...
I donno if Dhab does textures since this is completly different area of art, but who knows? I mean, c'mon, Dhab is an art God, he can do anything!

Nocturnal, what I do at Valve now is concept art, some texture art, 3d modeling, and promotional art and a whole lot of "play testing" ;-)
Alex, i'm not sure which image is in the PCgamer ad, but for the OpFor box cover I only touched up the image slightly, 90% of it was done by another artist from either Sierra or Gearbox.

Oh the envy! playtesting Valve's games!!!
I can't wait to get back to Dallas!!! Maybe i can be apart of something like that one of these days! Must be nice man!
The closest thing i ever came to even meeting someone in the gaming industry was when i used to work for CompUSA in Dallas and i talked to John Romero a couple of times. That guy has some nice cars! Anyway.. he asked me what i thought of quake.. i was honest and told him i liked q2 much better.. I'm sure it hurt his feelings and all but thats what he gets.By the way, he paid 3 grand for a crappy wooden chair from a castle. That made me lose all respect for the guy! It wasn't even cool looking. Anyway.. i'm done babbling.. |
