I need one desperately. I figure it's cheaper to draw and show my work here and get feedback than to take art classes...

DPI (dots per inch)/PPI (pixels per inch) <<< same thing

for print - 300 DPI is taken as the standard to which colour is printed - 1200-2400 DPI is what line art is printed (anything with a solid line - including type)

if a scanner says it does 9600 x 9600 DPI interpulated - this means that it scans @ its top res and then the software then increases the res.. pretty much like making a picture in photoshop say @ A5 300 DPI and increasing it to A3

the Epson has a True scanning res of 1600 x 3200dpi. this will suit any needs you might have from now to whenever, basically if u need it blown up anymore then i'd goto a Bureau and get it drum scanned.

A4 page scanned @ 1200 DPI = 708Mb or if resized to 300DPI will give you an image way bigger than A0

Those two scanners are a bit above my price range. I just checked:

it's 194$, and the other one is almost 300$ (canadian).


I was told the Canon LIDE20 Scanner was pretty good for its price.
