I'm diggin' it. I'm a UT supporter big time. I've always felt that UT kicked Quake III's ass in gameplay and design. But I have admit that QuakeIII's engine is a lot better, since I can run Quake III with everything turned up and still get nice FPS. With UT, the framerate would drop pathetically if I turned everything up. Seriously, the damn game was made years ago, and I'm running it on TODAY'S hardware and it still chugs. WTF you know?
Now on UT2003:
I like the graphics. It's really pretty that's for sure, but it wasn't as pretty as I had expected. I'm really dissapointed that a lot of the weapons are practically the same. Is it THAT hard to design some new weapons and get rid of the lame old ones like the fucking Bio-blob-piece-of-shit??
The new version of the UT engine ROCKS. It performs MUCH better than the previous version, while crunching FAR more data in polygon count, lights, textures..etc. I still can't run it with everything turned up though. It seems with all UT-engine related games, I ALWAYS have to dumb down to 16 bit colors, medium level texture detail/character detail/decal detail..etc. Now, that's just not right. The UT programmers need to learn a few lessons from Carmack in optimization. |

He's saying it plays like Q3 now... which it does. All I can say is: Bring on DX 2 and Thief 3. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one waiting for those sacrelicious.
I'm also eager for the release of hitman 2, and (although it's a bit more mindless) Duke Nukem Forever... |

Graphics are pretty and all the art is amazing.
But I agree some new weapons wouldve been nice, theyre exactly the same...
It just plays like UT, and I played it and got sick of it a few years ago...
But the engine is cool. |

*shrug*
UT is only fun with mods.
And the soundtrack I enjoy more than not simply for the fact that it was made by people in the Tracker scene that got me to start making music in the first place. |

Well I have to agree with most of the comments here. It's a great game but doesn't seem to do anything new in terms of a FPS. I've played it and its super fun, looks great and very entertaining; however...
...Battlefiled 1942, my friends, is the next level of play. If you haven't tried it I strongly suggest you do. |

battlefield 1942 would be ok if it didnt have that "last man on earth" feel to it...
in that first pic i count only four players...wow, the realism.
for what it is, UT is a fun game...UT2003 looks like the same.
battlefield 1942 does seem to be a more enjoy-able game than UT2003...but, then i tend to like spider solitare better. |

Ok it's either me becoming less of a game addict, or the games just suck lately!
I mean since Half-Life mods i didn't find one game worth being on my hard drive. THis is so upsetting |

Does BF1942 have a single player mode at all ? I played the MP demo at my friends, it was alright, but I am interested in it mainly because I am a big WWII sleuth. I like to get my hands on as much info as I can, and gaming just makes it that much more interesting.
But I downloaded UT2003 for myself on my own system, 56k is a killer. But overall, I think it looks great, not much different from UT itself, but just beefed up on graphics, which is always nice. I remember UT being tons of fun playing at LAN parties, which I never get to do anymore, nor will I in the future (that i know of), but I'm sure if I ever got broadband connection and some time on my hands, UT2003 would be great, but so would all the other games I've been not playing with my 56k (CS, BF1942, Quake 3, War3, Diablo 2, etc.) |

hear hear.
I loved No One Lives Forever and Jedi Knight 2.... want to play Red Faction... but in general I totally agree. Every other game Ive played lately is a let-down.
I will admit I am looking forward to No One Lives Forever 2 and Freelancer.
Tron 2.0 looks interesting. |

No i think FPS is a good genre that will probably be more popular than side-scrollers ever were
Just that the technology of FPS has advanced enough already for people to press more on gameplay and fun aspect of it. Add some creativity.. you know mon, positivity and interactivity!
Certainly it's not the end, and we'll see some great games in future, just that it seemed to me that there weren't any 'breakthroughs' for the past year or so. |

Giant Hampster- I thought I was the only one who ever fell in love with that game. Rocket jockey kicked (and still kicks) some major ass.
I love tying your opponent to mines "ball and chain" or stringing them up between two posts.... that was so fun. |
