Bengal, you've got some really cool gestures in those figures. Very Happy Just curious, how long do one of these take you to get done?

You are rather amazing!!

The third reminds me so much of Paul Pope. I like the last 2 for the angles.

Are you working on Catwoman?

I really like them, and the fact that you play with that grainy rough coloring style against your clean lines. Keep posting here ! Still working on this comic book for delcourt btw? first one and last one may be my fav as they're not simple pin-ups but achieve some storytelling . cool.

I admire your way of handling the shadows with so little effort. (So it seems). Very tight, and the shapes re reading perfectly. (Not very technical) but very artistic. Good work.

sorry to bring this old post up again.

I really love your work bengal
and I wonder how you start with you drawings/paintings.?
I mean your characters look very convincing in form and anatomy
with simple strokes
and they have sometimes very special poses which makes it hard to draw correctly.
I'm doing life drawing nearly every week for 2 years now(as much as I can)
and I re-try to start constructing my characters but it won't work that good
in fact they look better when I start drawing really fast(like I did at figure drawing) and correct the drawing afterwards becoming more precise.
Though I find it hard to draw more complicated poses (from memory) and I always have to check the mirror.
Edit: I'm also trying at figure drawing to concentrate on one stroke and do this very precise from the beginning.

I think you do your drawings pretty quick so I wonder what's your method.
Well maybe you did a lot of figure drawings and learned your anatomy well and that's the result though I wanted to know if theres something else Wink

hey silber,

i almost always pencil my work on my sketchbook. i never sketched real people or things like this ; but i think i've been watching people so long without practicing that i somehow 'transformed' what i had understood of the human body, into an already balanced style (or something like this...)
i like the human body a lot ; the only humble advice i can give you is to always draw what you understand of the body, not what you see. that's most important, imho. drawing twice a week won't deserve you right if you don't really try to translate the person in front of you, into shapes based on 'mathematically' understood volumes.
but i am not a specialist... i just know axes of the body, and balance of movements, i think it suffices for my characters to be correct! :)

thx for your comment anyway! :)

wow. i'm completely speechless.
the expressions and gestures of your figures are breathtaking.
love the strokes as well as the colors. you seem to handle everything so very easily.

i really admire your work.

Bengal,

Your economy of line is amazing. I have spent days, sometimes weeks on paintings that haven't had half the emotional impact as these do.

Quite impressive.

You drew my dream girl in that last one Razz Lenore doll and all. Excellent linework and color all-around.

Wha?.....what are u talking "possibly disturbing nudity"..?.....these are exquistely done..and tasteful. I don't find them disturbing. Geez.....Anyway, yeah...reminds of the days when I was in Paris, living and working. Your drawings evoke that time period for me somehow.

I dig your lines, in some ways it reminds of couple of Viennese artists like Klimpt and Schiele. Not to take away from your art...it just reminds me of it.

I can tell that you're a draftsman.....I say keep going.

E.
