Ok... I'm using Windows XP and normally when you click on the speaker Icon in the system tray (by the clock) it brings up the slider which in turn lets you select the volume. When you click on the slider it makes a beep through the speakers. For some reallllly strange reason, when I click to set my volume now, the beep comes from my processor instead of my speakers.
Everything else works fine regarding sound... but I miss being able to switch the volume by hearing how loud it is.

I have absolutly no clue whatsoever Shocked , I've tried rebooting, defraging, re-installing winamp even.

Can anybody help?

I would probably try reinstalling my sound drivers. my sound card sucks, and it always creates problems but reinstalling the drivers always work.

i'm sure your processor has started going all tetsuo, growing and developing in unexpected directions and ways and is now toting (in addition to a 40cm motorpenisdrill) a new speaker that wasn't there before! how exciting!

you do realize, that there can be *gasp* a built in speaker on the motherboard for things like *awe* putting out sound/alarms for things like "no ram sticks installed" "no video card in eithe agp or pci slots" "critical user failure" etc? it's quite common these days. and quite cool! f.ex. you could pull out your video cards and then continuously switch the pc on and off and on and off and record the BE BEEP BE BEEP BE BEEP sound and imagine you're a rave artist! :D AND AS AN ADDED EXTRA i will tell you about motherboards that do not have a pc speaker like in old computers, that is, an actual speaker glued or screwed to the case or whatever. the pc speaker could be replaced by a little speaker on the actual motherboard AND WHAT BEST! IT MIGHT BE LOCATED NEAR YOUR PROCESSOR! :)) but le me assure you, your processor does not know how to make sounds... (and even if it did, it's not like re-installing goddamn winamp is going to stop this most interesting and unlikely phenomenon. better call an excorcist.)

I know what you mean.. i do that all the time.
I usually take out my video cards out of the case, turn the computer off and on to hear the sound.. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEP!!!
And then i imagine myself in a huge stadium full of screaming people.. and there i come out on stage, sweaty. ready to perform! And people are yelling at me "shizo! shizo!!! we want you!!!!"

And then when i get tired of it, i put all my video cards back in, and go back to browsing the forums and checking email every 2 minutes :0
