rant ahead, I didn't proof-read in my current fury and am still pretty pissed.
radio shack completely stopped their stocking of usuable products. I go in there, some guy in a fancy shirt asks me if I'm looking for any thing, I say I'm looking for some led displays and a binary decoder and it doesn't seem like they have them, and he just stares at me blankly. So I ask the greasiest guy there (I guess profiling people by their appearance does help sometimes) and he says that they have completely stopped stocking those, and you can't even getting a fucking bag of resistors.
So I goto the surplus computer store some ways away where theres usually a group of people chatting endlessly about their computers and stuff, and now they redid the place and its all fancy with they're computers on display and the people are all clean, and have haircuts! Not to mention things cost stuff now, allthough other then the new and more boring staff its kinda the same...
god! you can't do anything anymore!
it's going to be one hell of a boring summer this year.
Now my sister is forcing me to get some stuff done for her. jeez! I never have any free time! its allways install this, get this to work, do that.. what do I get? less free time. All because "I'm the only one who knows how".
And what happened after I wrote that shell script for her because theres no program for linux?
"Its not nice like everyother program! its all confusing text!"
"well of course, its a shell script!"
"well I don't like it! why can't you just get a normal program for it?!"
"because there is no program! do you want me to get rid of the script!?"
*blank stare of death*
thats what it boils down to.
curse all of those confused people that made a once usefull radio shack into an idiot hut. |

In my house, if dad's away, I'm the only one who actually knows how to restart the computer in all three ways, and has the brains to use them if one doesn't work.
Sister: "Gio! The computer's broken!"
Me: "Restart it. And it's not broken. Something has to physically happen to it for it to be broken."
Sister: "It won't restart!"
Me: "Bloody hell" *I get up from where I'm happily sitting, go upstairs, kneel on floor, reach over to computer, reach for "restart" button* "No! Don't touch tha-"
*click as the power switch is turned off*
Me: "Idiot. Now the scanner has to warm up, the stupid thing has to check for errors on drives C, D, E and F, and it'll take about twice as long to start up!" *I smack sister over head very hard. I leave, only to have to repeat the whole process over when Windows crashes the next time*
Yep. In my own way, I (sort of) know how you feel.
Didn't mean to write this much.

May I ask why you were lookin' for LED displays and a binary decoder?
Also, while I have your attention, my box segfaults when I type "ls" :P |

Coaster, maybe you should've explained to the rest of the board that you like to fiddle around with stuff like that, make things do other things, and whatnot. A picture of you desk might suffice. |

aimless tinkering, uploading picture of physical desktop.
eh, sure your ls-ing a directory, 'cause from what I know segfaults revolve around binary errors.. is it currupted? does dir work? can you ls other directories? |

embarrassing look into most of my life
*crawls into a tunnel and dies*
Heres a chart of her problem solving logic when it comes to downloading songs to put on a cd for a road trip:
1) (hits me, telling me to get off the computer)
2) wants to download them on her old computer
3) kazaa too old
4) out of space, can't upgrade
5) slowly transfer photos from her computer to the (good) linux one, so she has mor space
5.5) whine to me
6) sign up for website account to zip, then upload them
7) takes too long/doesn't know how
8) makes me
** this is how far she's gotten, the next part is what she plans to do **
9) install the new kazaa
10) download music
11) relize she doesn't have a burner
12) move the songs over to the good computer
13) convert the files, burn them
now heres my solution:
1) download the songs ONTO the linux computer

Hehe, no no, you're right Coaster, they do revolve around binary errors.
Damnit, sarcasm never works with ascii. :P |

I just looked at that image.. and it scared me. Are you building a bomb?
And an even better solution for your problem with your sister: ban kazaa from every computer you're ever going to be in contact with again. I hate kazaa. |

My solution:
* Finish the bomb you were building (in that photo)
* fit bomb with an RS232 interface (anyone remember those?)
* connect bomb to sisters computer and hide it under her chair
* write little shell-script that sends "BLOW UP!" command to bomb when sister enters term "Britney Spears" in Kazaa's search window.
* duck & cover
* oh - and before all that: smack sister!
wheeeee! |

Did you also notice that the led displays and decoder chips are what you use to make those timers? :P
Actually, her taste in music is pretty good, and I don't like kazaa either. 'course none of us care if this old HP pavilion piece of crap gets harmed.. |

bundle of shit?
if you think thats bad, my sister cried because the moniter wouldn't turn on the computer, when I asked why she was pressing the moniter power button she lies to me telling me its the computer power button. Obiviously unaware that I was there and had been there 20 minutes waiting to use the computer, watching her try to search through my files, (failing) watching her send some gay ass greating card which she's been asked not to do, watching her try to log into msn under mine name while talking to her self, watching her go into a stupid chatroom and do a bunch of dumb shit, and then finally watching her click erraticly as she attempted to open at least 12 copies of windose media player. The computer then crashed, and according to her it just stopped working. So I then wait to see if she'd try and turn it back on, or at least turn it off. Instead she presses the moniter button, thats what I come in, asking her what the hell shes doing. She then screams and begans to cry, I excalim loudly that she is stupid and should be sent to the junlge where she won't be allowed to touch things that surpass her intelligence. Her reaction is to run upstairs and tell my mom the I downloaded to many things, and that I shouldn't get "the internet" not realizing that my computer wouldn't affect that computer at all.
overall shes a retard. |

Gosh... Your sisters suck! I guess they still do better than my mum though, who doesn't know how to use Windows Explorer and tries to open every file in Word (which she can use). I had hard time explaining her why she can't just choose "File -> Open" in word of she wants to see a .jpg picture. Or why didn't it work when she tried it. |

My mom took a C++ course (and passed fairly well)..
the scary thing is she calls the 'ctrl' key 'clear' i.e "Jeff! The computer crashed and clear alt delete doesn't work!" |

You have a mom that can code in C++? Geez, that's cool.
Almost as cool as having a mom that is a proficient 'reverse engineer' |
