I did this one a few weeks ago in school. For once we had a model worth painting, and I probably did about a dozen pictures of him. This one is my favourite. The medium is oil on canvas.

I have to agree that the face isn't working. But the painting on the torso knocks me out. Beautiful color and brush strokes- very wicked. Hope you do lots of these.

Only thing i'm not a fan of is the lack of facial features, and the use of black, I think the black sort of kills it... Otherwise good stuff.

Kari: How come you don't like the face? Too sketchy?

chlywly: The areas that appear black in the picture are actually a mix of perusian blue and burnt umber. Sure it's dark, but not totally black, that's my digital cameras fault =)

but my real reason for replying is to object to your comment about the model being 'worth painting'. every model, every person is worth painting!

c: Hehe, are you going PC on me? =) Honestly though, we've had models who can't sit still, who eyeball you, and some, both women and men, so creepy I normally wouldn't get within 10 meters of them.

But sure. All people are beautiful. With their clothes on =)
