If anyone has read the book 1984, you have thought about if history has been changed.. also, if anyone has tried the tactics they use in that book.. Sodom Husein has used these tactics, with posters of himself all over his country, also making his image similar to "Big Brother". - now to the question..

Who is in control of the past is in control of the future. Who is in control of the future is in control of the present.

(If this is so, apply this this the question)
What, how, and why do leaders of countries strive to have more after having what seems everything?
(Hitler had everything except one thing.)
The answer to this is Power.
(Sorry, but I had to lead this to the real question.)

What is the one thing that leaders, like I described, seek to gain and hold while they rule?

I have the game Weasel... but I mainly play Tribes (because the game is the best

The answer is Omnipotent.
you know how christians say God is an Omnipotent God, all powerfull..
other religions... 1984 has no religion.
Sodom Husein wants to be God-like.
Hitler thought he was a God, lol. If you dont believe me, read his book.

I was suppose to read the book, but transferred school and didn't have to but I did anyways. It's kinda funny how most of what was in the book really happened. I don't know about many of you but the big brother thing isn't so far off. Not that it's bothering me any... it's not. If you liked that book another good one is The Giver. Somewhat like it,but different. More of how the government controls people and their lives, makes their choices, and tells them when to die, makes them conform into a master race. Much like Hitler.

About your question you are right about hem wanting to be god like... look at Hitler creating the master race, he was a smart man, messing with genetics before we knew what they were. But I think there might be more. A kind of emptiness, people who find happiness in money aren't really happy because once they have they want what's next, and I think that's somewhat what they do.

What do you mean Hitler didn't have power? He had lots of power. That's the nature of the totalitarian fascist state. And since Germany of the 30's and 40's was a fascist state, Hitler had power over EVERYTHING.

I think the answer to your own question is not omnipotent, but omnipotence. To have it make any sense at all, you really have to change it from the adjective to the noun.

Also, while we're talking about changing the past, have you ever looked at Soviet history? It's absolutely amazing just how much Lenin, Stalin and their successors actually changed. Read up on it and I'm sure you'll be amazed.

As for literature, The Giver is crap. If you want something like 1984, read Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. If you want to know where Hitler took his ideas and then perverted them, read some of Nietzsche's work, especially Beyond Good and Evil. Let me note that Nietzsche is not a rascist like Hitler was, nor did he advocate genocide. But that brings you into a whole new realm of existentialism, and if you want to know about that, let me suggest books by Satre, Camus, and Hesse.

about omnipotence from the adjective, I was speaking about Hitler personally.. so I wouldnt change it. He had complete power but wasnt God-like.. still had his own rebels.

have you noticed that there has been many great leaders but they all fail to do what they wanted to do like hitler and napoleon these ppl were smart as hell but like we all know their is a fine line between genius and insanity

I was not saying Hitler was omnipotent. What I was commenting on was your grammar. For the question "What is the one thing that leaders, like I described, seek to gain and hold while they rule?", the answer cannot possibly be "Omnipotent". It is grammatically incorrect. The word is "omnipotence". Hence the change from the adjective form, omnipotent, to the noun form, omnipotence.

A.Buttle... Yeah The Giver was crap but it points out how the government in so many ways is trying to block our want to individuals and think for ourselves. Anyways In the time of Hitler genetics was unknown. It was thought of, but no one knew what the hell it was or how it could effect people... Hitler started working with genetics in his cross breeding camps to create his superior race, which an American kicked the crap out of in the Olympics.
And has anyone noticed all those that tried and FAILED to concure to world have been men? Maybe it will be a woman who will succeed where man has failed. Come how many of you want to mess with a woman on PMS?
