A game we play over at the Ozone Asylum, this came from last week's "Makeit"
The moth wing is photographic, while the rest is freehanded on the old wacom. Quick and dirty, but the result feels right.
Sometimes a wing just doesn't seem like a wing...

Cool technique! Did you start with watercolor and finish in Photoshop? |

Kari: Bang on.
The background was mocked up in Painter 7 using varius watercolours and a bit of palette knife blending. I blocked in the piano shape there, without any detail aside from a grey-ish undertone for the shaping.
I took it into PS after that, playing with layers as little as possible (but still necessary, sadly) and worked the piano up from there.
I'm glad it's getting "warm" comments, that's what I was aiming for..a bit of a rough/dirty/warm feel.
