Here a new sketch from my online gallery.
It is intended as a side view baseline for a 3d Model.
I have quite an ambitious project to shoot a short movie with real actors and this CGI beast...
As usual C&C are welcome.
bye!

Cool sketch. I like the claw that's open, but the claws on the ground aren't quite working. I would study some good T-rex illustrations. You might want to evolve the dragon idea further, so it's more than your basic "Dungeons and Dragons" dragon. Chinese dragons are also interesting to look at, and you could animate it more like a floating serpent. Right now it has almost a dog's body which would take a lot of work and expertese to pull off. |

I'm starting my first post in this topic
I think that's a really cool Draggie!
It's anatomy is very good - but T-rexes really don't have the right body shape for a Dragon exept for their legs maybe.
You want him/her to be quite close to being physically possible so having a chinese/serpent Dragon wouldn't work unless you don't intend it to be realistic.
Celtic/western/welsh Dragons are supposed to have dog like bodies Kari.
If you want some good Dragon physioligy things go here: http://www.draconian.com/body/body.htm
btw/ I am fed up of eastern dragons... snakes with immobile legs... no offense to snakes |

Thanx for the feedback.
Just to give you more precise contest infos: in the (very short) screenplay I have wrote the dragon starts as a menacing creature and ends up as an allied of the main character: so it has to be a "not so fiendish creature", and a mammal body inspires, i think, more empathy.
Actually i don't know how to texture it. I think that too big scales do not fit. Probably I will try some iguana style skin, but more colorful...
I'm not a very experienced modeler/animator.
This creature represents really a challenge to me...
Thanx again!

gawain: nice dragon, certainly very european styled. I think you can still texture it with large scales, but not too many, getting some variation of scale sizes is important. Maybe a few large ones, and then mostly smaller ones perhaps.
I love the way the hind legs are shaped, but I agree with the others that the feet and claws are a bit vague. work on them some more.
I like the idea that the mammal style body, helps us to relate to it more. Interesting point. |

I'll work on details. Claws and head.
I have a lot of dragon and crocodile reference at home: i'll try to over-draw some scales. Stey tuned!
Thanx again all!
