Swampbugs boogie base 3.0

I've had the same site for about 7 years, and its gone through 2 major changes. So.. the 3.0 isnt a lame gag. :P

PLease let me know what you think, and if anything really bugs you, or just isnt right. I could take the website ever further and have it more interactive and all the sub menus interactive but it would take too much time I dont have. Other wise I think things would be more dynamic, so please consider that.

thanks !

Cool interface, and tho I only had a very quick glance of your work, what I saw was impressive.. whilst I liked the way the interface animated, I didnt like the sudden transitions on rollover, it somehow seemed to sharp, where's a fade in to your images would've been prefered. The only other thing that bothered me, was the way in which the frames with the thumbs was so.. er.. I'm trying to find a way to say this...

so blatantly a frame? It detracts from all the slick work you did on the initial interface..

hope that helps a little

thank evil for the feedback... I am aware of the frame thing looking to much liek a frame... and after your feed back I'd like to change it, prolly not right away since I'm tired of making my site for now. I was going for the functionality aspect, where a new annoying window doesnt have to pop up, or a new page having to click a back button to go back. The one way I might image fixing this is using some sort of border graphic that throws your eye off from the perfectly vertical frame line going from top to bottom. Thanks again!

I love your interface. Your artwork is good too. Do you know someone that works at AstraZeneca? (Claratin pic)

It looks awesome, but from a web designers point of view I have some crits and comments:

1. It's very right centered... what I mean is all the activity and interaction of the site is on the right side of the interface... this would make sense if the left side of it was somehow affected by whatever actions you perform on the right side (like say if there was a popup description of the page of the button you're hovering over)... but right now it's just sitting there... I'm not saying you should add a button or whatever on the left side, but some animation would be nice... like making the quarter circle rotate or having the texture inside it rotate or whatever... just some more action on the left side.

2. it takes a while to figure out where your buttons are... my personal preference is NOT hidden menues, but if you want to go for it then I won't argue, but a tip would be to make them perform some sort of action as you're entering the page, like just make them flash a little or have the outlines of them scale/fade out or something of the sort... it's just a little bit confusing especially considering point 1. There's nothing on the left side, so you start thinking that there might not be on the right side either subconsciously...

3. The animation in the buttons... I love the digital art button... that drags perfectly (although there's a point mentioned further down about it), but I'm not sure about the others... they're animated much faster so instead of having a slow solid feeling animation it just feels sort of rushed imho... and I feel there's either too little (traditional art) or too much (animation/3d) contrast in them... the digital art is perfect...

3. The buttons texts, this could be improved greatly I'd say... I'd almost go as far as to say: put this text somewhere else, and in one place... the space in the middle between the left part and the right part of the interface would be nice (where it says swampbug now)... and make it show itself in a nicer way like through a distortion or whatever... and keep them all the same, right now the misc links is showing in a completely different way from the others which detracts from the overall impression.

4. the digital art button animation is fine, only in the last couple of frames it starts going upwards which looks odd...

5. As for the frames thing... I'd change that entire thing... why not have the entire interface scale down and move up/right and have the page appear underneath it instead? then you could use the interface at the same time without having to go back to the main page...

6. you should make mouseouts... right now when you move the mouse away from the button it just blinks off... a mouseout gives a more professional feeling to it imho... give me a shout if you need to know how, it's a bit different from a normal button! =)

Other then that, great work =D

Didn't mind to make so many points as there seems that I have only crits for it, and those are just my own personal opinions, but it's just what crossed my mind! =)

Nice work anyways! Kudos!

edit: forgot point 6
