just a bunch of random crappy sketches. the 6th one is obviously based off of Feng's for practice, don't want anyone to think i'm tryin to take credit for design cuz i really suck at this. sorry for the low quality, taken with webcam cuz my scanner is 2 hours away at home. any crits and comments are appreciated!  |

Feng Zhu is one of my favorite sites. I love playing Battle Realms...
The 'Bear' suit makes me think of a hybrid of Patlabor and Lain for some reason... :P I really hope you develop these to a more finished status.

Imo, I think you should use less circular/spherical plate designs, it makes him look like Sega's Vector Man. ^^ His hair looks a lil stringy and grassy to me.
My suggestion for sketching is to sketch quickly marking down none of the details, but just the pose, how the things in the scene are. Then slowly add details. It looks to me you tried to rush the details.
I think you have a couple of problems with shape and form. Try drawing something from reference, just anything in your house. Something fun if drawing fruit bores you. heh |
